Melba Moore Concert Benefits Hamilton Hill Arts Center

Singing "Stormy Weather" will have special resonance for Melba Moore this weekend, as it will be her first opportunity to perform the song since the death of Lena Horne, the legendary vocalist with whom the song is most closely associated.

Moore, the Tony Award-winning actress and singer whose Friday concert at Proctors is a benefit for the Hamilton Hill Arts Center in Schenectady, for years has sung "Stormy Weather" during a tribute section of her show dedicated to Horne and Ella Fitzgerald -- or, as Moore calls them, "Miss Lena" and "Miss Ella." Horne, whom Moore met but never had the chance to sing with, was a special inspiration, the singer says, and performing "Stormy Weather" is a way of honoring her.
