MAYOR ED JOHNSON ANNOUNCES 9^TH ANNUAL ASBURY PARK MAYOR’S BALL

Celebrating Asbury Park Youth Through Scholarship, Recreation and Internship Opportunities 

ASBURY PARK, NJ (July 11, 2011) – Mayor Ed Johnson is pleased to announce that plans are underway for the 9^th Annual Asbury Park Mayor’s Ball happening Saturday, September 10, 2011 at The Grand Arcade, Convention Hall on Asbury Park’s oceanfront.  The fundraising gala will bring together a who’s who of “movers and shakers” from the Northeast region for an elegant evening of dining, dancing, entertainment, scholarships and awards.  Proceeds from this formal evening of charity and giving will benefit The Asbury Park Mayor’s Ball Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to scholarship, recreation and internship opportunities for Asbury Park youth.  In 2010, the event sold out at 500 participants.

 The Asbury Park Mayor’s Ball Foundation assists Asbury Park college- and technical school-bound students begin the work of living their dreams.  The Foundation also sponsors recreation programs, internship opportunities and community health awareness initiatives. 

“With all of the challenges that we face each day, there is no greater challenge or better goal than helping young people to achieve their dreams,” said Mayor Ed Johnson.

The “Event of the Year” features an exciting evening of eclectic dining, star entertainment, dancing, bonfire and casino novelties.  The evening will commence at 6:00 p.m. with a Cocktail Hour by the Sea featuring an array of scrumptious passed and stationary hors d’oeuvres.  A formal dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. and showcase a delectable meal presented by Ultimate Caterer. 

The evening’s program will feature scholarships and internships awarded to Asbury Park High School students that are college and technical school-bound.  The Asbury Park Mayor’s Ball Foundation will also present The Business Partnership Award, The Mayor Kevin G. Sanders Community Service Award and The Michael Brim Humanitarian Award.

Following the awards program, formal dinner and glorious desserts, the evening will continue until midnight with dancing to the ‘explosive music’ of Soul Finger, as well as with festivities that include Casino Night and an International Silent Auction.  Valet parking will be available. 

Tickets for the 9^th Annual Mayor’s Ball are $125 and are currently on sale.  Corporate sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available through The Asbury Park Mayor’s Ball Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3.
